As stated in my previous post, we endured a 43-44hr’ish blackout. In the middle of the summer. With high humidity levels. Needless to say, the contents of our main fridge was wasted as it spoiled from being unrefrigerated and dad opening and closing it to grab food to cook. Our secondary small fridge was spoiled as well. I think we lost about $700 worth of food between the two fridges. Sounds like a lot but the majority of the money was in the upper freezer portion of our main fridge however our big upright freezer held strong and was truly efficient. Things were still frozen solid when we checked on it. That’s where the big money was stored. So instead of showing you a pic of all the food thrown out, envision an empty fridge/freezer. Just be glad there’s no smell option via the internet. Blech. 😦
How’d you do?
On Friday’s, I share what food items that I have ‘wasted’ by letting spoil during the week from forgetfulness and/or neglect. Kristen over at The Frugal Girl has inspired me to publicly post in hopes of reducing waste. (Food Waste Friday is now being co-hosted every other week with Simply Being Mum – pop on over to take a peek!)
